Franklin Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt[a] (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945), also known as FDR, was the 32nd president of the United States, serving from 1933 until his death in 1945. He is the longest-serving U.S. president and the only one to have served more than two terms. His first two terms were centered on combating the Great Depression, while his third and fourth focused on US involvement in World War II. A member of the Democratic Party, Roosevelt served in the New York State Senate from 1911 to 1913 and as the 44th governor of New York from 1929 to 1932.

Founder of Online Presenters and of Toastmost.org, the WordPress-based club website hosting service for clubs and districts. Past President and current VPE of Club Awesome in Coral Springs, Florida. Also former Area Governor, District Social Media Director. Outside of Toastmasters: writer, editor, and digital marketing consultant. Formerly an editor at publications including InformationWeek, Baseline Magazine, Internet World, and WebWeek, and a contributor to VentureBeat and The Enterprisers Project. He currently works as a Editor, Insights News & Research for Similarweb (NYSE: SMWB). In addition to handling traditional PR, he works with editors at major tech and business publications who are seeking data on digital trends like the impact of generative AI on the web and search.
George Washington
Before being named District Director, George Washington (1732–1799) was a Virginia planter, surveyor, and military leader who became the first U.S. President (1789–1797) and a Founding Father. He commanded the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary War and established critical presidential precedents, including the two-term limit, while shaping the new nation’s government.

I’m Jim Barber and I’ve been an active member of Toastmasters International for over 35 years, and of Online Presenters since the beginning of 2018. I’ve also been president — twice — of the Florida Speakers Association, a chapter of the National Speakers Association. I’ve given two TEDx Talks, the first at the 2016 West Broward High TEDx, and most recently at 2024 TEDxMiramar. I’m also the author of 18 training manuals (don’t bother searching — they’re all out of print), and my 19th book will be published in late 2025. I live in the western suburbs of Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA) where I’m patiently (and largely unsuccessfully) teaching myself to play the didgeridoo.

Happy Day! Retired HR exec relaunching my coaching and consulting business. Currently working with a small group of clients. Topics including interview coaching, leadership, negotiation and presentation coaching. I’ve been a Toastmaster for more than 15 years and it has been a wonderful place to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I love the people I’ve come in contact with. Toastmasters is one of the most uplifting groups of people I’ve ever been a part of. I lived in New Jersey most of my life, relocated to Delaware, then, moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida. I am currently work in the financial services industry and I’m actively preparing myself for a new role in the area of financial education. Another goal I have is to speak publicly on the topic of mental health awareness in an effort to reduce the amount of social stigma that often accompanies a diagnosis of a mental illness.
